Jean Kimak, Proprietor (Unlicensed and not qualified to make funeral arrangements, embalm, or conduct funerals)
In the year of 1973, we learned of a funeral home in Carlstadt that was for sale. After many months of negotiations, we closed in December just after the birth of my fourth child.
Living in a funeral home with small children was a challenge and so was getting established. Thanks to this friendly community that welcomed us, our business grew along with the children. I am extremely proud of what we all have accomplished over the past forty years.
I consider my most important role here is to be a source of comfort to families in their time of need. I am usually on the premises to answer your calls or to greet you upon visiting. Welcome to our home! |
The late Peter Kimak, Sr., Founder
The late Peter Kimak, Sr. was the Founder of Kimak Funeral Home in 1973. Peter grew up in Garfield, served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a graduate of The New York School of Embalming and Restorative Art. Peter was licensed in both New Jersey and New York.
He worked extremely hard to make his dream come true of one day owning his very own funeral home. He became very active with the various clubs and organizations in the community. He was devoted to serving families in need and worked until he suffered a stroke, which caused him to retire. He passed away three years later in February of 2003. |
